Greg Johnson – CTO

Greg Johnson, Chief Technology Officer at InterProse

Greg has spent 25 years at InterProse, working on everything from software development and architecture to leading our technology strategy as CTO, and he's self-taught. Away from the keyboard, you'll find him backpacking, fishing or building something by hand in the Pacific Northwest.

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Gresham, Oregon, and have spent most of my life in the Pacific Northwest.

What's your educational background?

I'm self-taught. I've always had a natural curiosity about technology and how things work. Most of what I've learned has come from hands-on experience, experimenting, solving problems, and figuring things out along the way.

What's your professional background?

I've spent most of my career in software development and technology leadership. I've been with InterProse for 25 years, working on everything from software development and architecture to leading our technology strategy as CTO. I've always enjoyed the technical side of things, and even in a leadership role, I like staying involved in building and solving problems.

What originally drew you to InterProse?

I was recruited by one of the company's former founders about 25 years ago. What started as an opportunity turned into a career. Technology has changed dramatically over those years, and being able to continually learn, adapt, and build new things has kept the work interesting.

"I enjoy taking complicated problems and finding practical solutions that make our customers' lives easier."

What hobbies do you enjoy?

I love the outdoors, especially backpacking, hiking, camping, and fishing. I also enjoy cycling, traveling, and exploring the Pacific Northwest. At home, I'm usually working on some kind of project, whether it's building something, gardening, or tinkering with technology. I enjoy working with my hands almost as much as working with computers.

Where do you feel you make the greatest impact for our customers?

I think my greatest impact comes from understanding both the technology and the challenges our customers face. After 25 years, I've developed a pretty deep understanding of our systems and the industry. I enjoy taking complicated problems and finding practical solutions that make our customers' lives easier. I'm also excited about the opportunities AI and emerging technologies bring, and how we can use them to continue improving our products.
